Isn't the art scene a fascinating place? Everyday it becomes more and more surreal, transporting me to landscapes, until now I only dreamed of. This week I discovered Doof World--created by Martinez artist Tim Sharman....or did Doof create Tim?
This guy is obsessed! His installation at the Bedford Gallery (part of The Art of Diorama) is my favorite place to sit and ponder the possibilities of reinventing the wheel. He has built an entire theme park based on the character Doof. “Doofworld” boasts two galleries, a museum, an outdoor carving studio(with beer guzzling sculptor), and picnic areas. Doofs of many different shapes and sizes sprinkle themselves among the trees and shrubs.
Surrounding the diorama are documents alluding to a long deep history of Doof. Doof as playboy, pioneer, and piece of toast. There are even Doof videos on You Tube if you are prepared for the truly bizarre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCw781l3rAY
Yes, I know too weird for words. You'll have to come see it yourself:
